The Greatest Story Ever Told

Wise men 1 says, "The ancients said this star would appear*"
Wise men 2 says, "it means the King of the Jews is born."
Wise men 3 says, "We must send an envoy to worship Him."

*Numbers 24:17

A great caravan was prepared and it would be a long and dangerous journey. The wise men followed the star, bringing gifts, but let's go back to the beginning. Before earth was formed, a great plan was set in motion, involving you! In outer space was a power source composed of three distinct personalities- the holy scriptures call them the Father, the Word and the Holy Ghost (God the Holy Spirit). 1 John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." (KJV) The Word created the universe , The Bible says, " In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made" John 1:1,3 "The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us..." John 1:14 This was the Great One the wise men were coming to see.

Around 700 BC the prophet Isaiah said: "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son...and shall call his name Immanuel." * Isaiah 7:14

*Which means, "God with us" (Matt. 1:23)

700 year later, Jerusalem was under the control of Rome... and the Jews begged God to send the Messiah, the Promise One.

The angel Gabriel visited a virgin named Mary, who was engaged to Joseph of the house of David, and said... "Fear not, Mary; for thou hast found favor with God."   The world would never be the same. Angel told Mary, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. Mary had never had sexual relations. Angel told her, "The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee...and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee:" The angel told Mary her child would be called the "Son of God" Mary said, "...be it unit me according to thy word." "For with God nothing shall be impossible." Luke 1:37

Joseph was troubled until God told him in a dream to take Mary as his wife....Joseph woke up and took her and travelled 80 dangerous miles to get there in Bethlehem. That where Jesus would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:1-2) The reason why Mary and Joseph went to Bethlehem is because Caesar Augustus decreed that all the world should be taxed, so Joseph went to Bethlehem to register.*

*Luke 2:1

What does the Bible say to do with a rebellious child?

The child who exhibits a rebellious streak may be doing so for a variety of reasons. Harsh, unloving, and critical parenting will nearly always result in rebellion of some sort. In addition, a certain amount of rebellion against parents is natural in teenagers who are slowly pulling away from their families in the process of establishing lives and identities of their own. Fortunately, it is also true that God has made children who and what they are. He loves them, and He has not left parents without resources to meet the challenge. There are biblical principles that address dealing with the rebellious, strong-willed child with grace. First, ( Proverbs 22:6 ) tells us to “train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not turn from it.” For all children, the way they should go is toward God. Teaching children in God’s Word is crucial for all children, who must understand who God is and how to best serve Him. With the strong-willed child, understanding what

Children of Light

"You, brethren, are not in darkness...You are all sons of light." 1 Thessalonians 5:4-5 The Born-again Christian sees life not as a blurred, confused, meaningless mass, but as something planned and purposeful. His eyes have been opened to spiritual truth. Jesus said that one of the reason He had come to earth was to preach "recovery of sight to the blind" (Luke 4:18). By nature we are all spiritually blind because of sin. But the Spirit of God helps us see our sin and our helplessness and show us God's redeeming grace in Christ. The Spirit reveals the truth of Jesus declaration: "I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life" (John 8:12). We are no longer in the dark-we know where we came from, we know why we are here, and we know where we are going. In the midst of a world living in spiritual darkness, walk as a child of the light!
